While many leading banks spare no expense or effort when it comes to securing their branches, smaller banks (especially branches of international banking groups) are often left to develop and maintain their own solutions with limited resources and expertise.

When one such bank in Holborn, London, was in need of a physical security solution that would protect their counter staff and assets from attack, leading physical security solutions provider Safetell offered a customised product that hit the brief in every way.

Challenge

The bank staff were working from office desks in an open-plan environment that left them vulnerable to attack. The basement was fitted with simple timber doors that offered little in the way of protection against burglary. The bank required a solution that could protect its staff and their assets in a small but complex space.

Solution

Safetell recommended a comprehensive security solution that included a bespoke counterwork and glazing design to provide protection while maintaining natural light and communication. Safetell designed and fitted bespoke two-tier counters incorporating MKII screens and manual attack-level partitioning. The screens can be locked in position when the desk is closed or not. The security was further improved by glazed doors, and basement security was enhanced by two Stalwart steel doors.

Outcome

The UK branch of the banking group quickly adopted Safetell’s recommendations, which provided first-class physical security and improved the branch’s aesthetics. The Safetell solution went beyond just specifying equipment, as the company’s consultative approach meant that they were able to recommend solutions the bank hadn’t considered, such as using glazed partitions instead of stud walling, to ensure that staff and customers could benefit from natural light. The results were impressive, and the Bank Manager has already recommended Safetell’s work to local businesses. Contact Safetell if you require any security solutions for your premises!
