Improving Patient Experience

and Staff Safety in A&E

Challenge.

To protect staff against aggressive visitors and provide easy communication between staff and visitors.

Solution.

After discussing the A&E department’s goals and how they wanted to follow the Design Council’s advice to improve patient experience, it was decided to have two CounterShields – electrically moving security screens which could be fully open, fully closed or anywhere in between those two points. Staff would have control over the specific movements behind the counter.
